The “Fashioning Power, Fashioning Peace” exhibition, highlighting the global cultural diversity through the influence of fashion and diplomacy, is making its debut in the American capital. In the Woodrow Wilson House in Washington DC, there’s a particular spot dedicated to showcasing 50 one-of-a-kind outfits from more than 30 countries across the globe, Bulgaria included. The event is a testament to Washington’s unique position as an intersection of world diplomacy.
Bulgaria is represented by the timeless NEVENA Golden Goddess dress by the Bulgarian haute couture designer Nevena Nikolova. The dress is meticulously handcrafted from the finest materials: carefully positioned layers of finest French Couture lace with metallic threads, wavelike organza, Couture tulle with threads and double-sided silk taffeta in the skirt part and soft invisible tulle. The dress is a part of Nevena Couture Signature pieces, true jewels of creativity, defined by their everlasting value. Her creations are recognized and worn by renowned figures at important international events and public forums. Each of the designer pieces is drawing from the superb artistry of Bulgaria’s craftspeople.
The official opening of the exhibition on May 6 was attended by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to the United States Georgi Panayotov, who currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Woodrow Wilson House, a National Trust Historic Site in Washington, D.C. The official opening and gala coincided with the Met Gala in New York City – one of the world’s biggest fashion events.
