On June 6th, 2018, Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev took part in a discussion at the International Student House in Washington together with the Ambassador of Estonia Lauri Lepik and the Ambassador of Austria Wolfgang Waldner (representing the EU Troika). The focus of the debate was the state of play and the future of the transatlantic cooperation, with an emphasis on the trade and economic relations between the EU and the US.
Ambassador Stoytchev made a historical review of the EU-US relations. It was emphasized that the transatlantic relationship is based on three main pillars: shared common values, political and military alliance, and comprehensive trade, economic and investment cooperation.
In his remarks, Ambassador Stoytchev set out the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU: European perspective and connectivity of the Western Balkans; the future of Europe and young people through sustainable economic growth and social cohesion; Digital Economy and skills for the future with a focus on completing the Single Digital Market.
