On April 11th, 2018, the Bulgarian Embassy hosted a presentation of Elizabeth Kostova’s new book “The Shadow Land”, which was described by the Publishers Weekly as “a compelling and complex mystery, strong storytelling, and lyrical writing”.
The discussion was moderated by Ambassador James Pardew, former US Ambassador to Bulgaria (2002-2005) and author of “Peacemakers: American Leadership and the End of Genocide in the Balkans”.
Elizabeth Kostova presented her book by sharing the interesting story of its creation and describing the time spent in Bulgaria for researching and collecting information and necessary details for writing the book. She emotionally shared her impressions of Bulgaria and of her meetings with different people during her visits there. She pointed out that her family often travels to Bulgaria and has the opportunity to enjoy the energy, magic and mystery that exists in our lands.
The presentation of the book provoked serious interest among the attendees.
