On January 24th, 2018, Ambassador Tihomir Stoytchev was a special guest at a luncheon, organized by B’nai B’rith International. In his opening remarks, B’nai B’rith Executive Vice President and CEO Daniel Mariaschin outlined the unique story of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during World War II.
Ambassador Stoytchev made an overview of the Bulgarian-American relations, highlighting their strategic dimension. He drew a special attention to Bulgaria’s progress achieved in various areas after its accession to the European Union, the favorable business climate in the country as well as Bulgaria’s role as a factor for stability in the region of SEE.
The Bulgarian Ambassador spoke about the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during World War II – a remarkable example of human compassion. He also pointed out that the Jewish community in Bulgaria is vibrant, well integrated and actively involved in all areas of economic and social life.
Ambassador Stoytchev presented the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council with a special focus on the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
