The Embassy of Bulgaria jointly with the Bulgarian Professionals Club of DC set up a Microsoft Inspire related event on July 13th at its premises. “The Inspire” brings together Microsoft partners worldwide. The US East coast startups, venture capital investors and Bulgarian tech companies and US software giants with business in the country like HP Enterprise, Bulpros, Scalefocus, ICB Software, Datagroup, to name a few, presented their work and innovation.
Ambassador Stoytchev highlighted Bulgaria’s considerable progress in the tech industry in the past decade, spurred by a favorable environment for business and investment in the country. He directed US tech entrepreneurs towards potential collaboration with Bulgarian partners and expansion in Bulgaria. Sofia Tech Park, Southeast Europe’s first STEM tech transfer ecosystem, was showcased as one of the leading tools promoting the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian companies presented their successes in working with the US IT sector, adding details from the history and development of the indigenous growth of software development and the industry in Bulgaria as a whole. One of the recent accomplishments the country could demonstrate was the establishment of a Microsoft Innovation Centre in Bulgaria jointly developed at ICB Software premises with a local startup alliance “StartItSmart”.
The keynote speaker of the night was Charlie Kiser, a leading DC based venture capitalist, instrumental in numerous startups, crypto currencies development and a close witness to the establishment of the Nation Capital’s prominent accelerators and incubators like “1776”, “Accelerate DC” and the Innovation and Startup Center at GWU. Other present local tech companies were MPower Finance, LiftOffHealth, DeepDove Global, Dim Transylvania Group, to list a few.
